Relational Therapy

Relational Therapy is an exploratory therapy that draws on the psychodynamic therapeutic approach. Relational Therapy explores how past experiences shape us and our patterns of relating to others in the present. The goal is to develop more adaptive ways of interacting in present relationships and improving connections with others and overall wellbeing. There is a strong focus on the relationship between the therapist and the individual. Interactions with the therapist, reflect what is happening in relationships outside of therapy, and therefore provides a safe forum for trying out new ways of relating to others.

Relational therapy utilizes the relationship lens to address distress for a range of relationship issues, including:

  • Conflict in your relationship with your partner, due to trust or communication issues

  • Pushing away new people you meet, even though you’d like to have a relationship

  • Feeling anxious when you interact with people at work
